01 / Website and Shopify migration
Why migrations lose rankings
Rankings usually drop when URLs change without redirects, when pages or content are removed, or when titles and internal links are lost. A careful migration keeps or redirects every URL that matters, so Google passes the old page’s value to the new one. Some movement for a few weeks is normal; a lasting drop usually means something was missed.
02 / Website and Shopify migration
WooCommerce, Wix and WordPress to Shopify
Shopify’s free import app moves products and blog posts, but not customers, orders or reviews, and it does not set up redirects. We use Matrixify to move the full data set and build the redirects by hand.
Customer passwords cannot be moved to Shopify, so customers set a new password on their first visit. We send a friendly email to explain.

- Wix and Squarespace to Shopify
- WordPress to Next.js
- Redesigns on the same platform

We did it for ourselves first
When we rebuilt ceylond.com, every URL the old site had ever ranked for was either kept or 301-redirected to its closest new page, and a build check fails if any old URL loses its redirect. We use the same checklist for clients.

Questions
Your questions, answered.
Does changing your website affect SEO?
It can. Rankings usually drop when URLs change without redirects, pages or content are removed, or titles and internal links are lost. A careful migration keeps or redirects every URL that matters, so Google passes the old page’s value to the new one. Some movement for a few weeks is normal.
How long does a website migration take?
A brochure site of up to 100 pages usually takes one to two weeks, including redirect mapping and testing. A WooCommerce to Shopify store with up to 500 products typically takes two to four weeks. Larger catalogues or a full redesign take longer, and we confirm the timeline in writing.
Should I switch from WooCommerce to Shopify?
Switch if plugin updates, hosting, security or checkout problems cost you time and sales, and Shopify’s apps cover your needs. Stay if you rely on custom WordPress features that Shopify cannot easily reproduce. We review your store first and will tell you if moving is not worth it.
Can I migrate WooCommerce to Shopify for free?
Partly. Shopify’s free import app moves products and blog posts, but not customers, orders or reviews, and it does not set up redirects for your old URLs. Most ranking losses come from missing redirects, so a free import alone is risky for a store that earns from search.
Do you guarantee no ranking loss?
No one can honestly guarantee that, because Google re-evaluates a site after any big change. We guarantee the process: every URL mapped and tested, everything carried over, and 30 days of monitoring with fixes for anything that drops.
